Edin Terzić (footballer)


Edin Terzić is a German football coach and former professional footballer. He is the assistant coach of German club Borussia Dortmund since his assignment in 1 July 2018.

Career

Early years

Terzić was born in 1982, in Menden, Germany to a working-class family immigrated from Yugoslavia. He is of Bosniak descent. Terzić played 4th level of professional leagues in Germany at his playing career. He is an alma mater of Ruhr University Bochum where he studied at Sports Science.

Coaching career

Between 2010 and 2013, Terzić worked as a Scout and assistant coach at youth sector of Borussia Dortmund, under management stint of Jürgen Klopp.
Terzić was a part of management staff of Slaven Bilić as they collaborated in two management stints of Croatian manager at Beşiktaş J.K. between 2013 and 2015 and, at West Ham United from 2015 to 2017 November. His collaboration with Bilić started in 2012 when Terzić drafted and delivered a pre-game opponent analysis for Bilić for Group C encounter up against Ireland at Euro 2012. Satisfied with analysis, Bilić tended to continue to further discuss with Terzić and eventually offered him to join stint of Bilić at Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow which fails consequently. Bilić offered Terzić once again to join him for his assignment at Beşiktaş J.K. and Terzić accepted the offer following his consultation with Michael Zorc, then Director of football of Borussia Dortmund.
Contract of Terzić was terminated with immediate effect as Bilić was sacked at West Ham United on 6 November 2017.
In 2018, Terzić achieved highest coaching qualification of UEFA Pro Licence through a 18-month long course of The Football Association, in England.
Terzić was needed to take charge of team along with his colleague Manfred Stefes for the encounter versus TSG 1899 Hoffenheim as head coach Lucien Favre missed the match through illness during 2018-19 season.
