Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar


Eduardo Ramírez Villamizar was a Colombian artist in the Constructivist movement, one of the most importants from Latin America and the one of first ones from Colombia on the style.
He was born in Pamplona, Norte de Santander. He lived with his family in Cúcuta before to move to Bogotá to study Archictecture at the National University of Colombia but he dropped it in order to be painter. After a trip to Machu Picchu, Peru he took inspiration in the Inca culture to do Constructivist art. He died in Bogotá.
He is a recipient of the Order of Boyaca by Colombia government and also the Order of Francisco de Miranda by Venezuela government. A Google Doodle released on 27 August 2019 was dedicated to him.
