Education for Liberation of Siam


Education for Liberation of Siam is a group of high school students who demand to reform Thai education system which the core members are from the Thailand Educational Revolution Alliance. It was established on 2 December 2013 by Netiwit Chotiphatphaisal, who is the first secretary of the group. There has been a fan page on Facebook called "The Education for Liberation of Siam" to be the intermediate for disseminating any information concerning misconducts and questionable actions made by politicians or figures of authorities that have an effect on the Thai educational community. before Coup d'état in Thailand, in January this group set the event anti-coup in front of the army camp. Recently there was a small event, coined “Presenting flowers to show appreciation towards the military officers for not committing Coup d'état".
By sharing the same ideology that held firmly on to the belief that an educational reform in Thailand is a necessity, and the philosophy of the group believes that education should emphasize at human aspects, student and teachers’ beliefs, respect towards humanities and the knowledge inside individuals, as in not seeing us as empty vessels to force foreign ideologies into or exercising authorities without consulting the principals of logic, democracy and human rights. In essence, this group's existence is a testament to the Thai youths' dedication and determination to oppose the use of education system as an instrument for propaganda or usage with hidden political agendas.
