Edward Alexander Bott


Edward Alexander Bott was a psychologist at the University of Toronto. He was born near Ingersoll, Ontario. He established the Institute of Child Study in 1925. Attribution is given to him for being the architect of organized psychology within Canada. He was also a founder and in 1940, the first president, of the Canadian Psychological Association, also becoming the organization's first fellow. He was married to Helen McMurchie Bott who worked with him at the institute and the father of noted network analyst and psychoanalyst Elizabeth Spillius.
