Edward Mortimer


Edward Mortimer was until January 2007 the Director of Communications in the Executive Office of the United Nations Secretary-General. He was born in Burford, Oxfordshire, and is an author, journalist, and fellow of All Souls College, Oxford.
Mortimer is now Senior Vice President of The Salzburg Global Seminar, and is a member of the Advisory Council of Independent Diplomat. Before joining the United Nations he was a columnist and leader writer for the Financial Times.
Mortimer was appointed Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George in the 2010 New Year Honours.

The son of Robert Mortimer, Bishop of Exeter, Edward Mortimer is married to the British artist Elizabeth Mortimer.
