Eighton Banks is the most southerly area of the town of Gateshead, located around from Newcastle upon Tyne, from Sunderland, and from Durham. In 2011, Census data for the Gateshead Metropolitan Borough Council ward of Lamesley recorded a total population of 8,862.
Eighton Banks is bordered by Harlow Green to the north west, Wrekenton to the north east, and Birtley to the south. It is home to the Ravensworth Golf Club, and located near to Antony Gormley's Angel of the North.

Demography

According to the 2011 Census, the Lamesley ward has a population of 8,862. 51.9% of the population are female, while 48.1% are male. Only 1.9% of the population were from a black, Asian and minority ethnic group, as opposed to 14.6% of the national population, and 3.7% of the population in the Metropolitan Borough of Gateshead.

Eighton Banks is served by Fell Dyke Community Primary School and St. Oswald's Catholic Primary School in Wrekenton, as well as Springwell Village Primary School in Springwell Village.
