Electric Boogie

"Electric Boogie" is a dance song performed by Marcia Griffiths. It is strongly associated with the "Electric Slide" line dance. "Electric Boogie" was originally released in 1982; while this version did not catch on internationally, a remixed version featured on her album Carousel would reach number 51 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1990. It was written and originally recorded in 1976 with Bunny Wailer.

History

Griffiths' version was actually a hit in 1983 when it was first released, but reached its highest Billboard chart position of 51 in The Hot 100 in 1990, and has since become a celebratory staple. The song is very popular in North America at weddings, bar and bat mitzvahs, and other special occasions.
