English cricket team in Sri Lanka in 2019–20

The England cricket team were scheduled to tour Sri Lanka in March 2020 to play two Test matches. The Test series was scheduled to form part of the inaugural 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship. The schedule for the tour was confirmed in October 2019. In January 2020 Sri Lanka Cricket changed the venue of the second Test from the R. Premadasa Stadium to the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, due to renovation work that was being done.
However, on 13 March 2020, the two-match Test series was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Both cricket boards were planning to reschedule the fixtures. On 1 May 2020, Sri Lanka Cricket announced that the tour would be rescheduled to be played in January 2021, although the England and Wales Cricket Board did not confirm the fixtures. In July 2020, the International Cricket Council confirmed it was their priority to reschedule the matches, along with the five other World Test Championship series that had been postponed due to the pandemic.
