Equizetum


Equizetum is a former city and bishopric in Roman North Africa which only remains a Latin Catholic titular see.
Its presumed location is Ouled-Agla in present Algeria.

History

It was among the cities of sufficient importance in the Roman province of Mauretania Sitifensis to become a suffragan diocese, but was to fade, plausibly at the seventh century advent of Islam.

The diocese was nominally restored in 1933 as Latin titular bishopric of Equizetum / Equizeto / Equizeten.
