Eric Berthel


Eric Berthel is a Republican member of the Connecticut Senate, representing the 32nd District since 2017.
Berthel has been the State Senator for the 32nd Senate District since 2017, representing part of the Naugatuck River Valley and Litchfield County in the Connecticut Senate, including the towns of Bethlehem, Bridgewater, Middlebury, Oxford, Roxbury, Seymour, Southbury, Washington, Watertown, and Woodbury.
Berthel is the Vice Chair of the Insurance & Real Estate and the Banking Committees. He has also served on the public health, education, finance, appropriations and judiciary committees during his time in the legislature in both the State House and the State Senate. He previously served on the Watertown, Connecticut Public Schools Board of Education as Vice-Chairman.
On April 4, 2018, Berthel announced on his Facebook page that he is considering a run for the 5th Congressional District seat of Connecticut in the United States House of Representatives. However, on April 10, Berthel released a statement saying after much thought he decided not to seek the seat, but will be instrumental in the election in November.
