Erna Andersen


Erna Andersen was a Norwegian long track speed skater and figure skater in the 1930s and early 1940s.

Speed skating

Andersen won the silver medal at the 1932 Norwegian Allround Championships. She also competed in several international speed skating competitions.

Andersen participated at the 1933 World Figure Skating Championships and 1934 World Figure Skating Championships.
She was coached by Martin Stixrud.
In her career she lost several races from Sonja Henie. Both studied together with Martin Stixrud in Oslo and were part of the Oslo Skating Club, skating the same tournaments.
Later Andersen turned professional.
Andersen used interpretive ballet technique with speed speed skating. Her jinks were known for the combination of grace with speed.
