Erny Pinckert
William Ernest "Erny" Pinckert, was an American football halfback at Southern California for coach Howard Jones. He played in the National Football League for the Boston Braves/Redskins, who then moved to Washington, D.C.
A younger brother of astrologer Jeane Dixon, he and his nine siblings were the children of Richard Franz Pinckert, a native of Gräfenhainichen, Duchy of Anhalt, and his wife, Emma, both Roman Catholics.College career
His teams won the Rose Bowl in 1932 against Tulane University when Pinckert, assisted by blocking back Jerry Spann, pulled off a pair of double reverses that produced touchdown runs and in 1930 against the University of Pittsburgh. Pinckert was All-American after the 1930 and 1931 seasons. He was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1957. Tommy Trojan, officially known as the Trojan Shrine was based on a variety of USC football players, including Russ Saunders and Ernie Pinckert.
