Estonia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007


Estonia chose its entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 during Eurolaul 2007 on 3 February 2007. The winner was Gerli Padar with "Partners in Crime", composed by Henrik Sal-Saller and written by Berit Veiber.

Before Eurovision

Eurolaul 2007

Eurolaul 2007 was the fourteenth edition of the Estonian national selection Eurolaul, which selected Estonia's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2007. The competition consisted of ten entries competing in a final on 3 February 2007.

Competing entries

directly invited 10 composers to submit entries for the competition. The composers both created the song and selected the performer for their entry. The invited composers were:
Among the competing artists and composers were previous Eurovision Song Contest entrants Ines, who represented Estonia in 2000, Koit Toome, who represented Estonia in 1998, Lenna Kuurmaa, who represented Switzerland in 2005 as part of the group Vanilla Ninja, and Soul Militia, who represented Estonia under the name of 2XL in 2001 together with Tanel Padar and Dave Benton. Priit Pajusaar and Glen Pilvre co-wrote the 1996 and 1999 Estonian entries, Alar Kotkas, Pearu Paulus and Ilmar Laisaar co-wrote the 2000, 2002 and 2006 Estonian entries and Sven Lõhmus wrote the 2005 Estonian entry.

Final

The final took place on 3 February 2007 at the ETV studios in Tallinn, hosted by Marko Reikop and Maarja-Liis Ilus. The winner was selected over two rounds of public televoting. In the first round, the top three entries were determined to proceed to the second round: "Sunflowers" performed by Laura Põldvere, "Partners in Crime" performed by Gerli Padar and "Romeo ja Julia" performed by Hele Kõre & Kristjan Kasearu. The public vote in the first round registered 56,172 votes. In the second round, "Partners in Crime" performed by Gerli Padar was selected as the winner. The public televote in the second round registered 118,949 votes, with votes only counting towards the top three songs.

At Eurovision

As Estonia failed to qualify from the semi-final for the third time in a row Gerli was forced to compete in the Eurovision semi-final,"Partners in Crime" was performed 23rd in the running order, following Hungary and preceding the Belgium. However, the song only received 33 points, placing 22nd of 28 countries and failing to pass to the final.
