Eva Maydell


Eva Konstantinova Maydell is a Bulgarian politician. She is a member of the European Parliament representing the European People's Party Group and a member of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party.

Early life and education

Eva Maydell was born in Sofia on 26 January 1986, in the family of Konstantin Paunov and Zoya Paunova. She studied International Relations and Business Administration at John Cabot University in Rome from 2005 to 2008.

Career

In 2005 Eva Maydell became a shareholder and a manager of Trans World Business Ltd.
Maydell worked in the International Development Law Association in Rome from 2008 to 2009 before becoming a political advisor to MEP Iliana Ivanova.
Maydell stood for the European Parliament as a member of Bulgaria's GERB Party at the 2014 election and became one of Bulgaria's seventeen MEPs on 1 July 2014. She was elected with her maiden name Eva Konstantinova Paunova. At the time, she was the youngest member of the EPP Group. In her first term from 2014 until 2019, she served on the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection, where she was her parliamentary group's rapporteur on the protection of personal data in electronic communication. In 2019, she joined the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy.
In addition to her committee assignments, Maydell co-chairs the Youth Intergroup and is a member of the EP's delegation for relations with China and the United States. She is also a supporter of the MEP Alliance for Mental Health.

Other activities

In 2015, Parliament Magazine named Maydell the European Parliament's "best newcomer". She was also named European Young Leader by the Brussels-based Friends of Europe think tank in 2017.
