Fairmead, California


Fairmead is a census-designated place in Madera County, California. It is located northwest of Madera, at an elevation of 253 feet. The population was 1,447 at the 2010 census.
A post office operated at Fairmead from 1913 to 1940.

Demographics

At the 2010 census Fairmead had a population of 1,447. The population density was 173.1 people per square mile. The racial makeup of Fairmead was 764 White, 88 African American, 23 Native American, 7 Asian, 0 Pacific Islander, 497 from other races, and 68 from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 984 people.
The whole population lived in households, no one lived in non-institutionalized group quarters and no one was institutionalized.
There were 360 households, 192 had children under the age of 18 living in them, 216 were opposite-sex married couples living together, 55 had a female householder with no husband present, 24 had a male householder with no wife present. There were 29 unmarried opposite-sex partnerships, and 0 same-sex married couples or partnerships. 49 households were one person and 20 had someone living alone who was 65 or older. The average household size was 4.02. There were 295 families ; the average family size was 4.34.
The age distribution was 496 people under the age of 18, 163 people aged 18 to 24, 371 people aged 25 to 44, 311 people aged 45 to 64, and 106 people who were 65 or older.
