Fatma Sultan (daughter of Selim I)

Fatma Sultan was an Ottoman princess, daughter of Selim I and Hafsa Sultan. She was the sister of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent.

Biography

She was first married in 1516 to Mustafa Pasha, governor of Antalya; however they divorced when it turned out that he was homosexual and had no interest in her.
Then, she married in 1522 to Kara Ahmed Pasha, who was the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire between 1553 and 1555, and they had two daughters. After his execution, she either went to live in Bursa but returned to the Imperial Palace after the death of Suleiman I, or, according to other sources, was forcibly married in 1556 to Hadım İbrahim Pasha, presumably as a punishment for her intrigues. Fatma Sultan built a mosque in Topkapı. Fatma died in 1573 and was buried in Kara Ahmed Pasha's tomb.
