Feed the Wolf EP

Feed the Wolf is the seventh release and sixth EP by the Brisbane band The Red Paintings. It was released in Australia on 11 June 2007, and was funded entirely by fan donations and created without management or label. The album spawned the single "We Belong in the Sea". The album included two cover songs, "Sing" by The Dresden Dolls and "Mercy Seat" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Critical response

Feed the Wolf received positive reviews, but not as overwhelming as previous releases. Sputnikmusic staff reviewer Alex Silveri said "Feed the Wolf isn't the moving wonder that was Walls, nor as catchy and exciting as Destroy the Robots, but it still retains all the elements that make the Red Paintings one of the most exciting bands out there in the Australian landscape today". The album is referred to as being not as easily accessible as their previous work, although praise was high for their rendition of the Nick Cave classic, likened to a "epic trembling wave, building itself from a slow piano introduction and ending in a hail of torrential drumming and blinding fierceness".
