Fenton Communications

Fenton Communications is a public relations firm that was founded by David Fenton in 1982. They describe themselves as the "largest public interest communications firm in the country", and maintain offices in Washington, DC, San Francisco, and New York City.

Background

They specialize in public relations for not-for-profit organizations, and state that they do not represent clients that they do not believe in themselves. Their client list includes organizations associated with an array of social issues, but they are most known for their work with liberal causes such as MoveOn.org and Greenpeace. In 2009, Fenton was selected by the Wikimedia Foundation for a $250,000 project to “build the credibility of its popular Wikipedia site and help boost the organization’s fund-raising efforts."
The Center for Global Food Issues criticized Fenton for "spreading fear" related to some environmental issues, such as pesticide control, while having only weak evidence to support their position.
Fenton Communications is closely allied with Environmental Media Services.
