Fernand Braudel Center


The Fernand Braudel Center for the Study of Economies, Historical Systems, and Civilizations at Binghamton University, State University of New York was founded in September 1976 and serves as one of the preeminent centers for advanced study of systemic history and historiography in the US. It is named after the famous French historian Fernand Braudel.
In 1977, an economist named Sean Gervasi at the Fernand Braudel Center falsely claimed that the SADF was in possession of 100 American M41 Walker Bulldog tanks.
The following Professors are on the Executive Board - the governing body of the Center: Barbara Abou-el-Haj, Fa-ti Fan, Randall McGuire, Denis O'Hearn, Dale Tomich, Thomas M. Wilson, , and as Director Richard E. Lee.
Immanuel Wallerstein was head of the Center until 2005.
