First Camp

First Camp is a private chain of campgrounds in Sweden.

History

First Camp was founded in 2002 when five entrepreneurs within the Swedish tourism industry decided to start the first private chain of campgrounds in Sweden. Swedish tourism have been growing for a number of years and camping have been a major contributor to this trend. However, the camping section of the tourism industry have been quite stable and not very entrepreneurial. When First Camp bought their first site, Umeå Camping, later renamed First Camp Umeå, they became part of the changes that now transforms the industry as a whole. The German stock-listed company Regenbogen AG bought Åhus Camping in Skåne, and the first listed Swedish camping company, Nordic Camping, bought a number of smaller sites. First Camp won the bidding war for Arcus Camping in Luleå and also Skutberget in Karlstad.
The company has appointed a former vice president of a stock-enlisted company to be the new CEO of the group and set as its goal to be on the Swedish stock exchange no later than 2011.
