Football in Paris


Football is the most popular sport, both in terms of participants and spectators, in Paris. Paris has several of France's significant football clubs, and the city is home to many football clubs. Paris Saint-Germain F.C. is Paris's most successful club.
Stade de France, France's national stadium is just north of Paris. It is the home venue of the France national football team and has traditionally hosted the Coupe de France Final since 1998.
4 clubs based in Paris RC Paris, Club Français, Red Star F.C. and CA Paris-Charenton participated in 1932–33 French Division 1 as founding members.

Derbies

The last derby proper in French top-flight football, Paris derby took place during the Ligue 1 1989-90 season between Paris Saint-Germain and Racing Paris. In total the clubs met regularly for 5 seasons.
The only regularly occurring city derbies and which uphold their rivalries in recent years are the Parisian derbies between Red Star, US Créteil and Paris FC in the second and third tiers.
