Foundation University Islamabad


The Foundation University Islamabad, is a private university located in Islamabad, Pakistan. It has three campuses; Islamabad, Rawalpindi & Sialkot.
FUI is a private sector university, sponsored by the Fauji Foundation which is the largest welfare organization in the country. FUI was granted its charter by the Federal Government vide Ordinance No. LXXXVIII of 2002.

The FUIC consists of Foundation University Medical College, Foundation University College of Dentistry, Foundation University Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences, Foundation University college of Nursing, the University Secretariat and Fauji Foundation Hospital .

Foundation University Medical College (FUMC)

The Foundation University Medical College was established in 2000. The intake of the College is 150 students per year. FUMC is also recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan for FCPS Part II training. The College is housed in a complex of its own, with hostels for boys and girls located within the same premises. The College is listed in the International Medical Education Directory and is a member of International Association of Medical Regulatory Authority. The College has also been included in the World Directory of Medical Schools by WHO, making its students eligible to appear in the United States Medical Licensing Examination and United Kingdom Professional and Linguistic Assessments Board. Conventional modalities of teaching in the form of lectures, seminars, classroom laboratory teaching has been replaced at FUMC by integrated modular systems like PBL which is more patient oriented and evidence based. The College is also regularly publishing a multi-disciplinary Journal of Bio-medical Sciences.

Foundation University College of Dentistry (FUCD)

The student are educated in basic medical and dental sciences in the initial two years and are trained in different clinical specialties in third and final years including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Operative/Restorative Dentistry, Prosthodontics, Periodontics and Orthodontics on simulated models and as well as live clinical scenarios. FUCD offers the most modern and state of the art clinical facilities available in the country with services ranging from fillings and root canal treatments Dentures to Orthodontics Implants and Major surgeries of the jaws, mouth and face. It houses its own Central Sterilization and Supply Department, specially designed for enabling the clinicians to provide quality care with absolutely no compromise on sterilization and cross-infection control. The clinical setting is fully equipped with digital radiography systems including periapical, OPGs and Cephalometric X-rays to CT scans and MRI. Dean of the institution is Professor Dr Muhammad Azhar Sheikh, BDS, M.Sc, FDS RCS FDS RCS and FDS Oral Surgery Where as Dr. Sidra Aamer and Dr. Nadia Amman are serving as Associate Dean and Associate Dean of FUCD respectively. FUCD has two major Departments which includes Department of BASIC SCIENCES & Department of CLINICAL SCIENCES with their respective sub-departments.

Foundation University Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (FUIRS)

Foundation University Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences
Foundation University Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences was established in 2014. It offers a 5-year Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and follows the semester system. The intake of the department is 50 students per semester, with two semesters in a year. FUIRS has a purpose-built campus with spacious lecture halls, amphitheaters, and multidisciplinary laboratories with facilities at par with international standards. It is also equipped with the latest gadgets like virtual reality, anti-gravity treadmill, and dynamic posturography. Clinical training is provided in the affiliated hospital of FUIRS i.e., Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi which has an exceptional physical rehabilitation setup equipped with the latest equipment to train students to combat clinical challenges in daily life. It is also the first rehabilitation institute in Pakistan which took an initiative to offer paid house jobs to all graduates at the completion of their 5-year degree program.

Foundation University College of Nursing (FUCN)

Fauji Foundation School of Nursing was established in 1979. It was running regular diploma courses and has now being upgraded to Foundation University College of Nursing. FUCN will be a constituent college of Foundation University. It is under process of recognition by Pakistan Nursing Council and will be affiliated with Nursing Examination Board Punjab.

Foundation University Sialkot Campus (FUSC)

FUSC has been established in 2019, with an objective to provide quality and most relevant degree programs in the areas of Business, Information and Engineering Technologies, and also to launch technical courses to meet the industrial need for skilled manpower. The campus shall also provide opportunities to the skilled certificate and diploma holder workforce for their vertical mobility and career progression to acquire higher education. FUSC is providing Bachelors's level education in Engineering, IT and Management Sciences. The Campus is equipped with modern classrooms, IT lab, conference room, engineering laboratory, well resourced library, seminar hall, faculty work stations and management offices.

Fauji Foundation Hospital (FFH)

The Fauji Foundation Hospital, Rawalpindi with the capacity of 750 beds is the flagship of Fauji Foundation Welfare Health Projects with an annual budget of about Rs. 2.4 billion.

Programs offered at Foundation University Islamabad Campus (FUIC)

FUMC has introduced an internationally accepted Integrated Curriculum from 2009.
FUMC is the fourth institution after Agha Khan University, Shifa Medical College and Army Medical College to introduce this teaching methodology in Pakistan.

Collaborations and Memberships

The University of Yamanashi Faculty of Medicine, signed an academic agreement with FUMC for research collaboration, faculty development and student exchange in 2005.
