Foxton railway station


Foxton railway station serves the village of Foxton in Cambridgeshire, England. It is from. The station is operated by Thameslink.
It is located adjacent to the busy A10 level crossing, which is monitored from the nearby signal box. A freight-only branch diverges to the west beyond the crossing south of the station, serving the nearby Barrington cement works & quarry.

Services

A Thameslink train leaves half-hourly in each direction on weekdays. Up trains call at Shepreth, Meldreth, Royston, Ashwell and Morden, Baldock, Letchworth Garden City, Hitchin, Stevenage, Knebworth, Welwyn North, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Potters Bar, Finsbury Park and London King's Cross.
Down trains go to Cambridge with some continuing to Cambridge North. A small number of Great Northern trains to/from King's Lynn and Ely also call here in the weekday peaks which are operated by Class 387 or 365 trains.
Platform 2 was extended in Summer 2017 to allow 8-car trains to call without straddling the level crossing behind. Platform 1 was not lengthened, as it is located before the crossing and 8-car trains use Selective door operation to open the doors on the front four carriages only.
