François Morellon de La Cave
François Morellon de La Cave was a painter and engraver of French origin active in Holland in the 18th century.Life
Morellon de La Cave had French Huguenot origins, and may have been a student of Bernard Picart, who settled in Amsterdam in 1710. He made engravings to illustrate works, including a Dutch edition of Henriade and Tragédies by Voltaire as well as a Parisian edition of the Comentarios Reales de los Incas by Inca Garcilaso de la Vega.
He is also the author of engravings based on works by William Hogarth and Antoine Coypel as well as portraits, for example that of Vivaldi and Willem de Fesch.
Morillon de La Cave died in Amsterdam at the age of 72.
