Francis Malone


Francis Ignatius Malone is an American priest of the Catholic Church who serves as bishop for the Diocese of Shreveport.

Biography

Francis Malone was born on September 1, 1950, in Philadelphia, PA.
On May 21, 1977, Malone was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Little Rock. His first assignment after being ordained was as Parochial Vicar of St. Michael Church in West Memphis, Arkansas. He was later assigned to churches in Crawfordville, Sheridan and Little Rock. He also served on the faculty of Mt. St Mary's Academy and served as both Chancellor and Vicar General of the Diocese of Little Rock.
Pope Francis appointed Malone to become the 3rd bishop for the Diocese of Shreveport on November 19, 2019. On January 28, 2020, Malone was consecrated as a bishop at a ceremony at the Cathedral of St. John Berchmans in Shreveport.
Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond served as the principal consecrator. Bishop Anthony B. Taylor of Little Rock and Bishop Michael G. Duca of Baton Rouge, the former bishop of Shreveport, served as co-consecrators. After he was ordained bishop, Malone was officially "installed" as Bishop of Shreveport by Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the Apostolic Nuncio to the United States.
