Frankie de la Cruz


Eulogio "Frankie" de la Cruz Martinez is a Dominican professional baseball pitcher for the Algodoneros de Unión Laguna of the Mexican League. He played in Major League Baseball for the Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres and Milwaukee Brewers and in Nippon Professional Baseball for the Tokyo Yakult Swallows.

Career

Detroit Tigers

In 2006, he went 5–6 with a 3.43 ERA with the Erie SeaWolves and 0–0 in innings with an 11.57 ERA with the Toledo Mud Hens.

Florida Marlins

On December 5, 2007, the Tigers traded Cruz, Andrew Miller, Cameron Maybin, Mike Rabelo, Dallas Trahern, and Burke Badenhop to the Florida Marlins for Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera.

San Diego Padres

On March 25, 2009, the San Diego Padres acquired De La Cruz for a player to be named later or cash from the Marlins.

Yakult Swallows

He played with the Yakult Swallows in 2010.

Milwaukee Brewers

On January 13, 2010, De La Cruz signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Chicago Cubs

On March 16, 2012, he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs.

Second Stint with Brewers

De La Cruz signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers for the 2013 season. He became a free agent after the 2013 season.

On April 2, 2014, De La Cruz signed with the Sultanes de Monterrey of the Mexican Baseball League. He was released on June 21, 2014.

De La Cruz signed with the Nettuno Baseball City of the Italian Baseball League for the 2016 season.

On April 10, 2017, De La Cruz signed with the Saraperos de Saltillo of the Mexican Baseball League. He was released on July 17, 2018.

On July 31, 2018, De La Cruz signed with the Diablos Rojos del México of the Mexican Baseball League. He was released on December 17, 2018.
