Fred Martin (Idaho politician)


Fred S. Martin is a Republican Idaho State Senator representing District 15.

Education

Fred Martin attended Highland High School in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from BYU-Idaho. He graduated from the Medical Training Center at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas, and Non-Commissioned Officer Training School at Idaho State University.

Early career

Early in his career, Martin taught Religious Education, U.S. History, and Business Economics. He was the owner of Capitol Investments and for over 20 years was owner of Satellite Systems Inc.

Military service

Martin was a medic in the Idaho National Guard and was a member of the United States Army Reserves. He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard of Idaho in 1974 and from the United States Army in 1977.

Political career

Fred Martin was an aide to a United States Congressman and Bureau Chief, Executive Director for Citizens for Local Government, Sergeant at Arms Idaho State Senate, a Republican Precinct Committeeman, and a Republican County Vice-Chairman, and is currently an Idaho State Senator representing District 15.

Personal life

Fredrick Sullivan Martin was born and grew up on the Fort Hall Indian reservation north of Tyhee, Idaho. Fred is very active in his church, serving in the North Carolina-Virginia Mission, working mainly with the Lumbee Indians in Pembroke, North Carolina. He was a Seminary teacher and Principal in the Church Education System. Fred also taught U.S. History and Business Economics. Fred and Darla have been temple ordinance workers since 2006 and were shift coordinators.

Police Report and investigation

In March 2019, information had surfaced to the public that local police had investigated Martin for inappropriate behavior involving a Centennial High School locker room in 2012 and 2014. Police ultimately could not find "any criminal activity that is prosecutable.” However the police report had been circulated anyway.
