Free Imperial City of Nordhausen

Free Imperial City of Nordhausen was a free imperial city in the Holy Roman Empire which existed between 1253 and 1803, when it was incorporated into Prussia. The city-state was located around the modern city of Nordhausen, Thuringia in central Germany and embraced the Protestant Reformation in 1522. It was relatively prosperous and known for its production of Echter Nordhäuser Doppelkorn, an alcoholic drink.
