Gahmar


Gahmar is a village in India, located near the Ganges river in the Ghazipur district in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The village is 38 km from Ghazipur. The village has
two post offices, and one Panchayat Bhawan. Ghamar is the most populated village of Asia and it is the thired biggest village in Gazipur district.

History

Gahmar was settled by Sakarwar Rajputs, the descendants of Dham Deo Sikarwar who came from the vicinity of Fatehpur Sikri after Babur captured it in 1527 AD. They are closely related to Sakarwar Bhumihars and Kamsar Pathan, the descendants of Dham Deo Sikarwar's brother Kam Deo. After moving east from Fatehpur Sikri, initially, both of them settled in Gahmar, but due to floods, Dham Deo migrated to Maa Kamakhya Dham near Gahmar and Kam Deo settled in Reotipur.

Demographics

As of 2011 Indian Census, Gahmar had a total population of 25,994, of which 13,367 were males and 12,627 were females. Population within the age group of 0 to 6 years was 3,650. The total number of literates in Gahmar was 17,108, which constituted 65.8% of the population with male literacy of 74.0% and female literacy of 57.1%. The effective literacy rate of 7+ population of Gahmar was 76.6%, of which male literacy rate was 86.4% and female literacy rate was 66.2%. The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes population was 3,295 and 327 respectively. Gahmar had 4365 households in 2011.

Agriculture

In terms of Agriculture Gahmar village stand on highest position in Gazipur district. The Gahmar village is located on the banks of karamnasa river and Ganges river. The soil of the village is full of minerals and other resources. The total area of the village is 4447 acres out of which the total crop production area of the village is nearly 4000 acres. All kinds of crops grow in Uttar Pradesh and Easter Bihar are grown in the village. The village have 160 tractors and 15 Combine harvester and balers according to 2019 census. The village also have many pond which cover more than 30 acres of land in the village. The farmers of the village are much skild in doing there work. The village also have all the facilities which a very large village like Gahmar should have. There are barick making, poultry farming, fertilizer and pesticides making campanyies in the village. The Gahmar village have more than 40 schools and two Degree college.The village also have 14 A.T.M and some banks like Union Bank of India, Allahabad Bank,and Punjab National Bank.There are 2 mosques and 41 temples in the village and also one post office and one police station.
