Gasparo Ghiretti
Gasparo Ghiretti was an Italian composer and violinist who served as chamber musician to Ferdinand, Duke of Parma in the last part of the 1700s. In his position he served as master teacher to a number of talented musicians, including composer and Duke's chapel-master Ferdinando Paer, Ferdinando Orlandi, Angelo Maria Benincori and most famously to a young Niccolò Paganini. In this last relationship, Paganini studied under Ghiretti for several months and possibly as long as two years. With Paganini and others he often focused on harmony and counterpoint, as well as theory and composition.
