Conflation of image

During George Floyd's funeral on June 9, 2020 in Houston, Texas, the face of the football player was incorrectly inserted into a memorial photo montage. This error was broadcast onto several news networks, including BBC. The highlighting of this incident led the BBC to issue an apology statement, explaining: "We don't know why that particular image was used in the service... We're still looking into exactly what happened. The BBC would never seek to cause any offence."
