Belgian Antarctic Expedition, 1957–58

, who named it for
Norwegian
explorer
John Schjelderup Giæver
,
counselor
for the
expedition
, and
leader
of the
Norwegian–British–Swedish Antarctic Expedition
, 1949–52.
