Gopal (caste)
Gopal or Gopala is an Indian caste,which is the synonyms of Ahir caste found from Odisha State in India.Their traditional occupation is cattle-herding and cultivation.The Gopalas are claimed that they are descendants from God Krishna of Yadu lineage.
According their History during Mahabharata war they were the warriors soldiers of God Krishna's Yadav Army. They fought against Pandavas from sides of Kauravas by decision of God krishna.Culture
The Dola Purnima is the Major festival of Gopalas, they carries the Bimana of Radha Krishna in Holi festival.
Gauda Nacha is a traditional dance of the Gaudas, which is performed during Dola Purnima. In this dance the young Gopala boys wearing a special clothes, dance with striking each other's stick in a rhythmical manner in front of the Palanquin of Radha Krishna.
