Government College of Engineering, Chandrapur


Government College of Engineering, Chandrapur was established in 1996 in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India. It is affiliated to Gondwana University.
This is the only Government Institute under Gondwana University, Gadchiroli. This Government institute is completely funded by Government of Maharashtra.
GCOEC is situated in the city of a super thermal power plant and at the center of the region with abundant black-gold i.e. coal. The region contributes in fulfilling the demand of energy resource as well as power of the country while, GCOEC promises to fulfill quality technical human resource needed for these sectors in India.The college is accredited by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra and All India Council of Technical Education.
The College has a vision to excel in technical education having focus on-innovative design, entrepreneurship development, enhancing employability rate and developing environment friendly society. Its Mission is to educate and train undergraduate and research students for practicing professionalism, ethical approach, leadership and entrepreneurship ability.

Facilities

The college campus covers an area of. The campus has a centralized library, a gymkhana. The college also has Boys and Girls hostels with intake of 176 and 156 respectively.

About Library

As on date there are total 19637 books are available and 38 National / International journals are available.
Library is fully furnished & computerized and the books transaction is being done since 10 years through computerized system. The daily transaction on around 700 books carried out for students & faculties.
The book bank facilities is available for category students which is free of cost. For professors, researchers and students there is a separate section for reference books. Also there is a reading room for around 25 members where internet facility, e-learning facility, newspapers, National- International Journals as a learning aids are available.
There is also a Xerox facility in the Library for facilitating the students and faculties. In near future the proposal for Library modernization and digital library is under consideration.

Hostel

The college also has Boys and Girls hostels with intake of 176 and 156 respectively. Both Boys and Girls hostel are located in residential zone of the college campus. Hostels are well surrounded by greenery. Hostel admissions are made strictly based on merit and reservation rules as per government norms. Admission progress is as per CAP round admission of Engineering admissions. Rooms are allotted to students as per their choice by giving priority to higher merit students first. During admissions students are made aware of hostel rules and regulations.
All the rooms are well illuminated, and have good ambience. Each room has a capacity for two students, each will have separate table, chair, bed and cupboard, and all rooms are equipped with ceiling fan, tube lights. All necessary facilities such as Mess, Common Room, Badminton Court, Gym, Guest room, RO water purifier, News paper, Magazine, 24 hr Security, Sweepers are available to students. Students are involved in hostel administration by forming various committees. Active participation is taken by hostel students in various events in the hostels such as Ganesh-Utsav, hostel day etc. Maintenance activity is carried out as and when necessary.

Training and Placement

Several companies visit college every year for recruitment. Around 45+ students were placed in academic year 2015–16.

College Fest

Abhi-Rang is Cultural Event of the college which is held in the month of January every year. Abhitantra is an annual national level technical festival organized by the college in the month of March every year.
