Admission to M.Tech Programmes are based on applicant's result in the GATE conducted by IITs and IISc. Non GATE entries are accepted according to the CGPA in B.Tech PhD in Department of computer science also started in the year of 2016.

GECSKP students have been placed in organizations like Microsoft, Accenture, Infosys, Mphasis, Procsys, IBM, TCS, Wipro, Cognizant Technologies, Siemens, HP, Samsung, Patni, CMC Ltd, Future Soft, HCL, IBS, Kirloskar, Huawei Technologies, Canbay Software, Subex, US Technology, DRDO, Cordys, Hexaware, etc. In 2013–14, more than 50% of students with 7.5 CGPA having no backlogs had been placed.
Invento
Born in the year 2012, INVENTO is the national level annual techno-management festival of Government Engineering College Palakkad, Kerala. The affair calls for indefinite hard work of the students to bring about technological and cultural brilliance upon the institute. Hosted in the month of May it lays premise for numerous activities such as events, workshops, projects, presentations and exhibitions. Since its establishment, INVENTO has been followed up in the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 whose appreciable success opened doors to coming years as well. During its lifetime the techfest has managed to expand the knowledge zone and inculcate innovative ideas in students, deliver marks of excellence to the foundation and fulfil the responsibility of emerging engineers towards the society.
Innovation and entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC)
Innovation and entrepreneurship Development Cell, GEC Sreekrishnapuram is a non-profit separate independent central facilitating centre with in the institution formed to promote the Innovation and entrepreneurship among the students and thus equipping them to be job providers rather than job seekers as they pass out of the institution.
TBIGECS is a prominent facility in GEC Sreekrishnapuram, Palakkad under the Directorate of Technical Education, Kerala. Its aim is to bring Technology and Business under one umbrella. Proposals are invited from young entrepreneurs with innovative ideas to start new venture in different areas of technology. The incubatees can use the facility provided in TBIGECS for a maximum period of three years. A small rent will have to be paid by the incubatees while they are in TBIGECS. The selected start-up companies will be provided with office space, broadband internet, and technical advice to develop their ideas into marketable products. Depending on the progress, support for marketing, branding, technology transfer, securing IPR, etc. may also be extended by TBIGECS.
Library
The college library has more than 12000 volumes that mostly cover the syllabus needs of the students. Some international and national journals are available in the college library. Around 9% of the annual budget is allotted for the Library. The IEEE Magazine Package is made available in the library. The library has subscribed to the AICTE-DELNET Scheme for online access to DEL resources of e-journals.
