Greater Amman Municipality
Greater Amman Municipality is the arm of local government responsible for the administration of the Jordanian capital of Amman.
History
First municipal council in Amman was established in 1909 under the Ottoman Empire. The local inhabitants elected Ismael Babouk, a Circassian aristocrat, for the mayorship position.The current mayor of GAM is Yousef Shawarbeh who was appointed to the position in 2017.
