Hawke's Bay Wind Farm

The Hawkes Bay Wind Farm is a proposed wind farm for construction in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand.
In 2005 two consents were issued in the Maungaharuru area, one for the private company Hawkes Bay Wind Farm Ltd and the other by Unison Networks Limited.
Appeals against the wind farms were overcome at the Environment Court in October 2006 and at the High Court in May 2007.
A second stage of the Unison Wind Farm Te Waka/Titiokura Wind Farm involving an additional 37 wind turbines was ruled against by the Environment Court
The two consents were purchased by Meridian Energy in 2010 and 2011 respectively and were combined as one site, these consents were extended to 2023. In August 2019 Meridian sought interest from potential contractors for the wind farm's construction.
Construction would be expected to begin in 2020.

Location

The wind farm will be located on the Maungaharuru Range near the Titiokura Summit, about 34 km North-west of Napier Airport. The altitude of the range is approximately 1300 metres.
