Huissen was previously a municipality of its own, but merged with Bemmel and Gendt in 2001, to form Lingewaard.

Notable residents

Notable people who were born, have lived, or are living in Huissen include:
The Binnenveld mansion is a rijksmonument located in Huissen. This house is better known as the haunted house of Huissen. The building stood in the front area during the Battle of Arnhem: a major battle of World War II. According to locals, this mansion would be haunted.
In 2008, the mansion received a lot of media attention when it was purchased by Dutch television personality Emile Ratelband. Ratelband came with a restoration plan designed with the intention of restoring the house, to live there eventually. The project was canceled because Ratelband's wife absolutely did not want to make it her home, because evil ghosts would be haunting the building.
