Humberto Arteaga


Humberto Jose Arteaga is a Venezuelan professional baseball infielder in the Kansas City Royals organization. He has played in Major League Baseball for the Kansas City Royals.

Career

Arteaga signed with the Kansas City Royals as an international free agent on November 20, 2010. He spent the 2011 season with the AZL Royals. He spent the 2012 season with the Burlington Royals. In 2013, he split the season between the Idaho Falls Chukars and the Lexington Legends. He spent the 2014 season with Lexington. In 2015, he played for Lexington and the Wilmington Blue Rocks. His 2016 season was split between Wilmington and the Northwest Arkansas Naturals. He spent the 2017 season back with Northwest Arkansas. He spent the 2018 season with the Omaha Storm Chasers. He opened the 2019 season back with Omaha.
The Royals selected Arteaga's contract and promoted him to the major leagues on June 20, 2019. He made his debut that night versus the Minnesota Twins. On December 2, 2019, Arteaga was non-tendered by Kansas City and became a free agent, but re-signed with the Royals on a minor league contract on December 17.
