Imagens do Inconsciente


Imagens do Inconsciente is a 1988 Brazilian documentary film by Leon Hirszman, about three schizophrenic patients treated by the psychiatric doctor Nise da Silveira at the then Psychiatric Center Pedro II.

Plot

Based on clinical cases and therapies, based on a humanistic approach and artistic expression, conducted by the pioneering psychiatrist Nise da Silveira, at the Psychiatric Center Pedro II, the film recounts the story of Fernando Diniz, Adelina Gomes and Carlos Pertuis who, through highly expressive paintings, establish a bridge between its most intimate interiors and the most acute reality. The documentary was divided into three episodes: Em Busca do Espaço Cotidiano, No Reino das Mães and A Barca do Sol.

Cast

Although he completed editing the film, Hirszman died a year before its release, which would take place at a session at the Museum of Image and Sound in São Paulo, in May 1988.
