Indian Institute of Management, Amritsar


The Indian Institute of Management Amritsar is a Public Business School and one of the prestigious Institutes of National Importance located in Amritsar, Punjab, India established by Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2015. It is one of the young members of the Indian Institutes of Management Umbrella established in 2015. It was inaugurated by Surjit Singh Rakhra, Minister of Higher Education and Languages, Punjab on 6 August 2015.
IIM Amritsar is temporarily located within the campus of Government Polytechnic College, Amritsar till it moves to its own campus of approximately 60 acres, which is under construction at Manawala on Amritsar-Jalandhar GT Road, in about 3 years time. IIM Amritsar is currently headed by
Prof. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, an MBA alumnus of prestigious XLRI - Xavier School of Management and PhD Scholar in Business & Management from the Robert H. Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, College Park, United States.

Journey till now

In its very first year, students of IIM Amritsar organized their maiden Management Conclave "A Square" in the month of January 2016 by inviting prominent speakers from the industry. In the second year, students organized their maiden HR conclave "Yukti" by inviting experts from all over the industry. IIM Amritsar has seven academic interest groups named as Analytics and Business Club, Finance and Economics Club, Markophilic- Marketing Club, Operazeal- Operations Club, Stratagem- Strategy and Consulting Club, Hrithvi- HR Club and COE. IIM Amritsar also have three non-academic interest groups named as 50mm-Photographic IG, CSR IG-Sankalp, and Public Speaking-Vaani.
IIM Amritsar has its own legacy of Annual Fest known as "Aarunya". Institute celebrated 4th edition of Aarunya on 8 and 9 February 2020.
Institute has done fairly well in Placements since its inception. It has 248 Students in total for its Full-time MBA Program in 2019-20 session.
