International Academy of Osteopathy


The International Academy of Osteopathy is an international institute that offers academic courses leading to several degrees in osteopathy.
The IAO has locations in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Egypt, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland.
Students can obtain:
The IAO also organizes courses in Pediatric Osteopathy, Sports Osteopathy in Belgium, Denmark, Switzerland and Germany. These Post Graduat Courses lead to Post Graduate Certificates. The programs are accredited through agreements with Buckinghamshire New University and the University of Applied Sciences Tyrol. The courses are internationally recognised and are in accordance with the Bologna process.
The IAO was established in 1987 by Michel Janssens, Grégoire Lason, and Luc Peeters. In that same year the first courses started in Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany. Over the years, the IAO has evolved into Europe's largest Academy for Osteopathy with more than 2600 students per year and a teaching staff of some 150 academically trained teachers.

In English in Copenhagen. This is a part-time study for students who already have a medical degree and want to combine their studies with work. After successfully completing this 4-year programme, students obtain the unique British Master of Science in Osteopathy, from Buckinghamshire New University, as well as the DO degree from The International Academy of Osteopathy.
Several Post-Academic-Modules :
Several subjects in English.
These modules are for osteopaths with DO wanting to stay on top of scientific evolutions within the profession. Through these Post Academic Modules, also MSc.Ost. degrees are possible.

Egypt (EG) (Cairo)

Part-time study:
Is offered in English in Cairo and is meant for students who already have a medical degree and want to combine their studies with work.
After successfully completing this 5-year programme, students obtain the DO degree from The International Academy of Osteopathy.
After completion, it is possible to obtain the master's degree via our academic partners.

Germany (DE) & Austria (AT)

Part-time study:
Is offered in German in 14 cities in Germany and 2 in Austria and is meant for students who already have a medical degree and want to combine their studies with work.
After successfully completing this 5-year programme, students obtain the DO degree from The International Academy of Osteopathy.
After completion, it is possible to obtain the master's degree via our academic partners.
