International League Rookie of the Year Award


The International League Rookie of the Year Award is an annual award given to the best rookie player in Minor League Baseball's International League. In 1950, Randy Jackson of the Springfield Cubs won the first International League Rookie of the Year Award.
First basemen, with 13 winners, have won the most among infielders, followed by third basemen, shortstops, and second basemen. Three catchers have won the award. Ten players who won the award were pitchers. Twenty-five outfielders have won the award, the most of any position.
Seventeen players from the Rochester Red Wings have been selected for the Rookie of the Year Award, more than any other team in the league, followed by the Syracuse Chiefs ; the Columbus Clippers ; the Richmond Braves ; the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons/Yankees/RailRiders and Tidewater/Norfolk Tides ; the Charlotte Knights, Gwinnett Braves, and Pawtucket Red Sox ; the Buffalo Bisons, Durham Bulls, Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Louisville Bats, and Montreal Royals ; and the Columbus Jets, Havana Sugar Kings, Indianapolis Indians, Louisville Colonels, Ottawa A's, Richmond Virginians, Springfield Cubs, and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Ten players from the Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees Major League Baseball organizations have won the Rookie of the Year Award, more than any others, followed by the Atlanta Braves organization ; the Philadelphia Phillies organization ; the Boston Red Sox organization ; the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets organizations ; the Chicago White Sox, Cincinnati Redlegs/Reds, and St. Louis Cardinals organizations ; the Brooklyn Dodgers, Philadelphia/Kansas City Athletics, Tampa Bay Devil Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays organizations ; and the Chicago Cubs, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Florida Marlins, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Washington Nationals organizations.
