International schools in Azerbaijan The must be compliant to the regulations of the Constitution of Law on Education of Azerbaijan and other relevant legislation.
The primary instructional languages at these schools include Azerbaijani language, Russian, English and French.

Schools

International School of Azerbaijan

The International School of Azerbaijan opened in 1996. It serves more than 610 students representing 10 different nationalities. It is accredited by the Council of International Schools and is a member of the Central and Eastern European Schools Association.
The school began as a department of AIOC. During 1999 - 2001 it conducted an intensive curriculum development period and received permission from the International Baccalaureate for three international undergraduate programs: a Pre-year Program, a Middle year program and a Diploma Program. The school was accredited by the Council of International Schools in 2003.

Baku International School

In 1994 Baku International School was established by Quality Schools International as a private non-profit. It offers pre-school, primary and secondary education.

European Azerbaijan School

The European Azerbaijan School is a private school founded in 2011 by The European Azerbaijan Society. The school distinguishes itself from other schools by offering international programs such as IB Diploma Program, and International Examinations of Cambridge. Its enrollment grew from ninety-five to over 780 students.
The school is attended by students from both Azerbaijan and other countries.

Baku European Lyceum

Baku European Lyceum is a governmental school established in 1991.

Baku Oxford School

Baku Oxford School was established in 1998. The first graduates were two students in 2001. In 2003 the school took the status of a Cambridge International Center. It opened in Shamkir in 2009. In 2015 it became the member of the European Commission of International Studies. Instruction is in English. Azerbaijani and Russian are also taught.
Application to school is considered at age 5. Optionally, students can earn the secondary school diploma of the United Kingdom.

British School in Baku

The British School in Baku is a member of COBIS and the Council of International Schools and the only international school in Azerbaijan that is recognized by the UK Department of Education.
The British School in Baku opened in 2007. The school received the status of the Cambridge Regional Examination Center, at the same time was also officially registered with the QCA. In addition to the English national curriculum, Azerbaijani language, literature, history, and geography are taught by teachers of the Azerbaijani branch in Azerbaijani or Russian.

Baku French Lyceum

The Baku French Lyceum was established in order to provision study in French for French-speaking foreigners who live temporarily or permanently in Azerbaijan. The foundation of the Lyceum was laid in 2011 in accordance with the declaration that was signed the same year between Heydar Aliyev Foundation, the Embassy of France in Baku, and Ministry of Education of Azerbaijan. In 2014 opening ceremony of the Lyceum was held by participation of the president and vice president of Azerbaijan.
Lessons are taught according to the French curriculum and correspond to the requirements of the Ministry of National Education of France. Graduates of the Lyceum get rights to continue their education at French universities.

General Education Center “XXI Century”

General Education and Innovation Center “XXI Century” was established in 2001. It offers kindergarten, pre-school, primary and secondary education. Education at the school is carried out in Azerbaijani, English, and Russian. The school offers fifteen special courses and after school activities. Starting from the 5th grade, students can attend additional foreign language courses in German, French and Spanish. The International Examination Center of Cambridge also functions as a school. Since 2008, the school has been providing Cambridge International Primary Program and International Certificate of Secondary Education.

Dunya School

Dunya school was established in 1998 by professor Hamlet Isakhanly on the base of Khazar University. It was accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization. During the 2012 – 2013 school years the school received the title of School of the Year.
Education is conducted in Russian and English. Graduates with an IB diploma receive the opportunity to attend several internationally recognized universities. SAT courses and SAT testing centre are available.

Baku – Turkish Anatolian Lyceum

On January 24, 1994, Lyceum was founded according to an agreement between ministries of education of Turkey and Azerbaijan in 1992.

Baku Atatürk Lyceum

According to the order declared by Ministry Cabinet of Azerbaijan dated August 31, 1992, Baku Atatürk Lyceum started its activity under the school numbered 8 on September 1, 1992. After the restoration of the school, No 133 Atatürk lyceum began operating.
