Iqbal Memorial Institute


Iqbal Memorial Institute is a school in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India, that educates schildren from Kindergarten to Upper Secondary level. The school is oriented to Islamic principleas and is named after Allama Iqbal, a Kashmiri poet who inspired the Pakistan Movement. It was founded in 1981.

Location

The school is located in the Srinagar district of Bemina. Male and female students are educated in separate premises. The girls' wing is on the Budgam road, opposite the Government Degree College, Bemina; the boys' wing is 500 metres away at Sir Syedabad Bemina, opposite the Bemina Housing Colony.

Education

Most children are admitted to the school at Upper Kindergarten level, usually aged 4 or 5. A broad range of subjects is offered. The school is oriented to Islam, so students are taught to read and write Arabic, recitate the Quran and to understand releigious history.
