Iraklis Larissa


Iraklis Larissa is a Greek football club based in suburban Neapoli near Larissa, Greece. It was founded in 1930. Its president was Petros Papakonstantinou. Today, Iraklis plays in the Gamma Ethniki.

Founding of AEL

Iraklis Larissa had an important role in the founding of teams in Larissa and one of the powerful, Athlitiki Enosi Larissa F.C. which continued to play in the Greek Football Championship and two Greek Cups, in which it was the only regional team to win and the fifth in list in Panhellenic titles in football behind three teams from Athens and one from Thessaloniki. An idea of the founding was a unique and easy team in Larissa that had in 1958, the former president Raptis. In May 1964, it founded Iraklis, Toxotis Larissa, Aris Larissa and Larissaikos and founded AEL. The first president of AEL was Iraklis president Tzovaridis, in the new team featured some former players including Kondokastas, Tsolakis, Adamos, Harissoulis, Dimitriou, Lellis, Papazoglou, Katsianis, Saltapidas and Kassas.

Achievements

In 1939, Iraklis entered the Thessaly championships in which it was a large discrimination of a Larissian team until then. On 7 December 1947, Iraklis won 2-1 against Niki Volos and won the Thessaly Cup, with having to insecure the council in the Greek Cup final. They made it to the quarterfinals in which they lost against Olympiacos 6-0. It was the first Larissa team to make it to the round of 8, two players brought a transcription for Attica team, Kletsas for Olympiacos and Logaras for Apollon. In 1962-63 and 1963–64, Iraklis entered the Beta Ethnikil second division and played for two years at eight place and played 58 games, 20 wins, 19 losses, 19 ties, 79 points, 60 goals and 61 others. In 1996, the team made it to the finals of the Greek Super Cup which was tied in the field at Evosmos with Ethnikos Katerini with 2-1.

Notable players

From Iraklis began the career of Kostas Katsaras in series as a leader of AEL and the chief of Neon team, Thomas Makris in which he became the first scorer in the first division with Aigaleo which today he plays in Ilissiakos, Nikos Goulios in 2001 was the goalkeeper? of Ethnikos Enoplos as he took part in second place in the world championships, he also played in several teams in the second and third divisions and between these were AEL and Ilias Kotsiotis which he played for 3 and a half years in Panathinaikos and in 2007 took part with AEL.
On 7 July 1964, the player of Iraklius Ioannis Valaniadis was killed in a car accident.
