The story is initially introduced as two separate stories. The first one is that of a poor but happy girl named Gauhar, who is in love with a boy named Kashif. Kashif too, is very serious about her and the two want to get married. However, one day they are spotted by Gauhar's brother and this creates serious troubles for Gauhar. Also, Gauhar has a nasty cousin Jehangir who is using a family debt as a way of pressurising Gauhar into marrying him. Meanwhile, Sameer is a wealthy handsome young businessman whose mother abandoned him when he was a child and his father died. He was then raised by his step-mother. In his past he went through some traumatic experiences that caused him to develop a split personality disorder, which has been kept a secret between Sameer and his step-mother. He got engaged to a girl named Zoya who he thought would help him get over his issues but she died mysteriously. Some believe Sameer killed her, while others believe she committed suicide. After her sister's wedding, Gohar went to Sameer's office to take the place of her sister as a receptionist but ends up becoming the governess at Sameer's house where his step-mother grows fond of Gauhar. Gauhar doesn’t tell her family about this job which causes more problems with her family. Jehangir finds out that she is working at the house and tells Gauhar’s brother. The marriage ends and Jehangir, isolated, chooses to take revenge on Gauhar by throwing acid on her face but fails. Meanwhile, Sameer and Gauhar's relationship blossoms as does Kashif’s romance with his female boss Donia. Sameer then one day takes Gauhar out for dinner at a hotel. Coincidentally, Kashif is also there with Donia and he sees Sameer proposing to Gauhar which Gauhar accepts. Kashif then gets engaged to Donia on the same day Gauhar does to Sameer. He then also gifts Gauhar with a gold necklace set which Gauhar once thought Kashif will buy for her for their wedding. He also gets the same necklace set for Donia and Kashif and Kashif realizes that it was the same set that he promised he will buy for Gauhar. The next episode reveals that Kashif wants Gauhar to marry him. Gauhar's sister in law Zakia insisted his husbandto go to Sameer and make a list of all the things that they always wanted and tell them that we have approved his proposal for Gauhar. Saleem went to Sameer's office and gave the list of all the things and said that we want these things for Gauhar's security. Sameer also says that I have also my only one term and that is that after our wedding no one from your house will meet Gauhar again. Saleem hesitates at first but then he accepts it and promises to make his family members also agree upon it. Gauhar marries Sameer and soon discovers his split identity which is revealed to her on her wedding night. The episodes following that focus on Sameer and his dissociative personality disorder. As the series progresses, multiple flashbacks reveal more about Sameer’s traumatic childhood, focusing on the emotional abuse he received from his step-mother and nanny, Shakra. The series closes off by Sameer realizing he has a mental illness. He tries to commit suicide however, Gauhar intervenes and Sameer shoots himself and becomes injured. Gauhar goes to jail for attempted murder when Sameeer’s step-mother blames Gauhar for his condition. Meanwhile, Donia discovers the truth about Kashif and Gauhar and becomes distrustful of Kashif. Later, Sameer recovers, Gauhar is set free and Sameer's step-mother commits suicide. In a flashback, it’s revealed that Shakra was a victim of rape from Sameer’s father, Ehsan, and had a baby boy as a result of the rape. Ehsan orders for the child to be killed, driving Shakra to seek revenge. As a result, Shakra poisoned Ehsan and emotionally tortured Sameer as part of her revenge. Sameer wants to set Gauhar free and asks her to sign her divorce papers, while he goes away for his mental treatment. The drama ends with Jehangir finally being put in jail for his crimes against Gauhar, Kashif and Donia reuniting with Gauhar’s blessing, and a mentally stable and healed Sameer reunited with Gauher at a mazaar years later, finally happy with their relationship.
