Isoplanetic patch


Angular size of patch in atmosphere over which electromagnetic waves in the same plane stay parallel. The patch size inversely affects the Fried Parameter and the resolution of optical telescopes. Adaptive optical telescopes uses a bright light source to identify the properties of the patch in the line of sight to the object of interest to correct for seeing effects.
