In December 2009 it was claimed by Israeli newspaper Maariv that IBA, the Israeli national broadcaster, had internally selected Harel Skaat to perform the Israeli entry at the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, after an IBA meeting held on 23 December 2009. On 25 December 2009, IBA confirmed that Skaat was selected as the Israeli representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2010.

Kdam Eurovision 2010

The song that Harel Skaat represented Israel with in Oslo was selected through a national final called Kdam Eurovision 2010, televised by Reshet, an operator of Channel 2 and featured a total of four songs. The four song titles and songwriting teams were announced on 22 February 2010, with the competing songs being released via IBA's official website on 7 March 2010.
The final took place on 15 March 2010 at the Neve Ilan TV Studios in Jerusalem, hosted by Ofer Schechter. All songs were performed by Harel Skaat and the winning song was determined by a combination of the votes from public televoting and SMS voting, and five jury groups made up of members of the Knesset, members from OGAE Israel, members of the Harel Skaat fan club, a three-member expert jury and a IBA jury. "Milim", the winning song, received top marks from all five jury groups and the public vote. The members of the expert jury were Moshe Datz, Svika Pick and Mira Awad.
