Istanbul Square

Istanbul Square is a roundabout in the heart of Lahore, Pakistan. It is named after Istanbul, Turkey, the sister city of Lahore.
It is located at the intersection of Mall Road with Prof. Ashfaq Ali Khan Road. And is near the National College of Arts and the Alama Iqbal Campus of the University of the Punjab.
The square was inaugurated in November 2015 by the chief minister of Punjab Province, Shehbaz Sharif and Turkish ambassador to Pakistan, Sadik Babur Gurkin.
The square was designed by architects from Lahore College of Arts, Punjab University and University of Engineering Lahore. The new design they made has a tall pole in the middle of the square with hundreds of small birdhouses on it. Mainly pigeons use these houses and the city folk come to feed these pigeons.
The square was previously already called Istanbul Chowk however it had no special design and only had a boat fixed to it.
